Jott: Now Available in Canada!

Early this year I blogged about Jott.

There was, however, one very significant caveat:

Unfortunately, I cannot attest to how well this actually works.

I live in Canada, and the public beta only supports US-based cell phones -(

I am delighted to report that the US-only restriction no longer applies, as Jott is now available to Canadian-based cell phones!

All you have to do is call 647 724 5814.

(For those that don’t know, 647 is a Toronto-based exchange that handles the overflow from the original 416 exchange. This may also mean that long-distance charges are applicable.)

I’m running through some basic tests and am impressed by what I’ve experienced so far.

Since Canadian-based DICtabrain is apparently dead, this makes Jott’s arrival on the Canadian scene even more compelling.

[Thanks to Shree from Jott for letting all of us know!]

Perhaps by starting the conversation it will rouse intrest in this amazing FREE tool. I live in BC so to use Jott to its fullest I am charged a long distance fee. It’s still not practical to use Jotts full capabilities (as in calling to “Jott” and have it emailed etc) if I am charged a long distance fee. Now my Jott starts to cost me money for a “free” service.

Hopefully there will be a number for Vancouver in the near future. 🙂

I feel your pain! I work in Toronto, but live outside the GTA. This means I also pay for my Jotts from home. A Canada-wide 800 number would be nice 🙂

I work in Toronto and live north of the city. Jott works great!

There’s a new competitor to Jott on the scene call “Reqall” AND THEIR 888 NUMBER WORKS FROM CANADA. Visit it at http://www.reqall.com

Reqall has managed to get around the fact that some cell phone companies don’t use caller ID. It’s really quite innovative. When you register, you set up a PIN and when you call the 888 number, you’re required to dictate our PIN, and then dictate your phone number. (Similar to a user ID and password combo I guess.)

Anyway, I’m trying Reqall. It doesn’t have quite as many features as Jott yet, but it does do tasks, notes and calendar entries. Try it.
